Summer Recreational Baseball & Softaball

Marshall Parks and Recreation Department will provide recreational league baseball and softball for youth ages 7-14. Games begin May 2, 2011 and the season will be completed by mid-July. 

• 8 & Under Boys Baseball - pitching machine
• 11 & Under Boys Baseball - live pitching
• 14 & Under Boys Baseball - live pitching
• 10 & Under Girls Softball - live pitching
• 14 & Under Girls Softball - live pitching  

Games will be played Monday through Friday evenings.  Registration begins February 1, 2011 and ends March 18, 2011. The Park Administration Office is open Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.  For more information please call 660-886-7128.

 

 

National Youth Sports Coaches Association

ALL summer league coaches will be required to attend NYSCA training.  MPRD will hold several clinics prior to summer ball season for this coaches training.  The NYSCA program provides volunteer youth coaches with valuable information on the psychology of coaching children as well as many other important areas.

 

T-Ball

Registration: February 1, 2011 - March 18, 2011
Season: May 3rd – June
Fee: $20

This is a developmental T-Ball league for all boys and girls that will be 5 or 6 years old by July 1. The league will teach participants the basic fundamentals of baseball. Players need to only supply a ball glove. A soft covered baseball will be used to develop and instill confidence in the players. Games will be played on the Lyon Bowl Fields. The fee includes a t-shirt and ball cap.

Youth Tennis Lessons

Session I: May 31, 2011 - June 9, 2011
Session II: June 13, 2011 - June 23, 2011
Time: 8:30—9:30 A.M.
Fee: $30/particicpant
Minimum # of participants: 4 per session
Maximum # of participants: 20 per session
All lessons are Monday—Thursday.

These lessons are designed for children ages 8-14 who have no prior experience. All children are welcome and encouraged to participate in learning the basic skills and knowledge of tennis. We encourage all participants to take part in all three sessions to gain a higher understanding of the game. All sessions will be held at the tennis courts located in Indian Foothills Park. Participants are required to bring their own racquet. Call the Park Administration Office at 886-7128 for more information.

Junior Tennis is open to anyone from the age of eight years through high school who has previous experience (park or private lessons). Registration will be the day of the first class.

*If you are going into the 9th grade you can do morning tennis with the 14 and under and also the night league for an additional $30. Or you may opt to do either morning or evening session.

*We will also have a morning session on Monday and Wednesday for high school age players for an additional $30.

*There will be informal tournaments during the morning sessions.
*There is no Junior Tennis on the dates of the IFP Tournament.

*There will be informal tournaments on June 7, June 14, June 21, and June 28.
